2025 A' Design Award
We won the W Silver Award!

The illustration on the left is the cover illustration for the Aichi Prefecture information magazine "Aisanka," which was produced between 1995 and 1998.

This is Vol. 5, published in July 1996, about the Aichi Prefecture festival "Hiondori". It has been held in Shinshiro City, Aichi Prefecture for over 400 years.

The "Shingenzuka Fire Dance" is one of the festivals that has been passed down in the region. It is a festival that began to appease the spirits of the more than 16,000 people who died in the Battle of Nagashino-Shitaragahara, where the combined forces of Oda and Tokugawa defeated the Takeda army, which was aiming to march on Kyoto during the Sengoku period.

Every year, on the night of August 15th during the Obon festival, dozens of torches are swung around with great vigor, turning the battlefield into a sea of flames.

I illustrated this scene.

The illustration on the right is the cover illustration for "Aisanka," an information magazine from Aichi Prefecture. It was created in 1998, using the Aichi Prefecture festival "Hi-Ondori" as its motif.

Last year, in 2025 , I received the Silver Award in the Classic Illustration Visual Communication category at the A' Design Awards in Italy .

The illustration on the left depicts a scene from the Great Lantern Festival. The Great Lantern Festival in Isshiki Town, facing Mikawa Bay in Aichi Prefecture, is said to have originated about 400 years ago when villagers lit bonfires to ward off a sea monster that appeared in the village during the summer. Over time, it evolved into tall lanterns hung from bamboo poles, and as the six groups of parishioners competed to create the largest lanterns, the current massive lanterns measuring 10 meters in length and 5.6 meters in diameter were developed.

This festival, held every year on August 26th and 27th, reaches its climax on the night of the 26th.

In the midsummer night sky over the beach, a total of 12 lanterns depicting Japanese myths float ethereally, captivating the viewer.

It will captivate them.

We produced the calendar for Nippon Paint Co., Ltd. in 2002. 2003: Weaving History

This is a seven-page wall calendar titled "Romantic Highways," which connects cultures. Last year, I received an invitation to exhibit via email, so I sent the data for five of the six calendar pages.

(The A'Design Award & Competition is apparently comprised of internationally influential journalists, renowned designers, leading academics, and prominent experts. It seems a large judging panel of 225 people made the selections.)

Among them, the Kumano Kodo was nominated at the end of April this year, and in May it won the Silver Award in the Graphics, Illustration, and Visual Communication Design category.

I'm a little surprised that a work from 20 years ago is being appreciated.
